We’re here to help you re-build your connections. We’re offering innovative and integrative wellness tools to foster connection not only to your community, but also to your mind, body, and soul.

WHAT TO EXPECT
PART ONE
This 12-week program is divided into two components. The first is
in-person at Brock University with a breakdown of the day included below:
Peer-Based Speaker Panel
Hear the stories of Veterans who have experienced mental health issues and participated in holistic wellness practices.
Trauma Education
Psychoeducation on trauma and the impact of holistic wellness practices on healing will be facilitated by licensed mental health professionals.
Yoga
A yoga session will be facilitated by a registered yoga instructor and licensed mental health professional.
Breathwork and Sound Healing
A breathwork and sound meditation session will be facilitated by a certified breathwork facilitator, certified sound therapist, and licensed mental health professional.
Peer Reflection Circle
Participants will be divided into smaller breakout groups to reflect on their experiences with the holistic wellness components, as well as the opportunity to connect with other peers.

PART TWO
The second part of this program will be held virtually, on Wednesday evenings between the hours of 7:00pm-8:30pm. These virtual sessions will include:
Weekly Wellness Practice Sessions
Each week, participants will engage in an online wellness practice (e.g., sound healing, breathwork, yoga) that will last for approximately 1.5 hours. Participants will then participate in a peer reflection circle to deconstruct their practice and weekly experiences. For the reflection circles, participants will be divided into smaller groups that will be led by the clinical facilitators and a trained peer support workers.
Please note that these virtual sessions will commence the Wednesday, October 25th and will be held every Wednesday evening except for a short two-week break over the Christmas Holiday (December 27 and January 3).

Our Goal is to bring attention and awareness to Mindfulness-Based wellness programs as complementary to psychotherapeutic interventions to foster community reintegration efforts and reduce mental health symptoms amongst Canadian Veterans.
In other words, we want to help.

The program is developed in partnership with a community-based charity,
Boots on the Ground, and academic institution, Brock University, and will be delivered by licensed mental health professionals, as well as trained peer support workers.
